Course Description :
In Biology, students learn about the various classes and phyla and how all living things are put under various categories and subcategories based on their structural, behavioural and functional features. A detailed study of the structure and function of the cell is done to understand: (a) division of work assigned to each part of the cell and (b) the difference between the plant cell and the animal cell. The hierarchy of cells, tissues, organs, organ systems and organisms are explained with reference to cells modified for specialised functions.
Atoms, molecules, elements, compounds, mixtures, colloids and suspensions, atomic and molecular mass, concept of mole and its relationship to the mass of particles are covered in the chemistry portion.
More details are added to the previously introduced topics of sound, light and force, along with new ones like Newton’s three laws of motion, Inertia, Momentum, Acceleration due to gravity, graphs related to uniform motion and uniformly accelerated motion, Buoyancy and Relative Density.
